Myself and the rest of the Peanuts family want to thank everyone that helped in the creation of this great adventure and also the wonderful audience members that made it such a treat to perform. Thank you, we will cherish this experience always. Come visit our other friends in Cary Players for future productions, and until we meet again; happiness is opening your heart to new chances and new friends.Snoopy

One last weekend. But let's not worry about that! Myself and the entire Peanuts crew would like to think everyone young and old that joined us for our opening weekend. What excitement! What fun! So many Puppy Treats! The energy, photos, autographs, hugs, and joy that ran rampant after the shows were amazing. I don't know who had more fun, us that were performing or those that got to see it?!All great things must come to an end. Charlie Brown is looking forward to watching baseball playoffs as the show ends. Schroeder has some big concert at his school he needs to practice for on his toy piano. And I think I'll try to get a hockey team together this fall/winter with Woodstock and our friends. So we have plenty to do to help us not be sad about this ending. So come out and celebrate these last performances with us! Time is running out and we have a lot of love to share with everyone who enjoys music, creativity, and us, the Peanut Family.
One last thing. So much love to Charles Schultz. Without his vision and his heart this American icon of a family would not be possible. Thank you for giving us the chance to live this and to share this with our family! Come see us Cary!

Yes, yes, yes!! This is the big week. Our stage has been set and the kind Town of Cary has set up a backstage for us, chairs, lighting and so much more to really complete our performance area. We have a drummer playing with our Musical Director and adding wonderful sound effects all naturally created with no electronics. Props are colorful and puffy. So many wonderful seats are waiting for people to fill them later this week. So go get those tickets now, but don't be afraid to show up in person as we will certainly do our best to find room for you! This is a stressful time for most actors. Of course, not a huge deal for me, since I'm just playing myself in the show! Some are struggling more then others though. The production team is working smoothly, providing us all the technical items we need for this fantastic show. Schroeder has been spending more time then usual working on his piano skills, this is frustrating Lucy who thrives under his attention. Speaking of Lucy, she's been a little crabbier then usual and needs to be left alone when working on her lines. Never interupt a rehearsing actor! The round headed kid has been mumbling something about no one will like him, but I've seen his work and that is so not true. Sally Brown has been eating too much chocolate and is bouncing off the walls with her excitement. Linus has been so supportive of everyone, always there to critique and give his advise both good and bad. As for myself? Snoopy here, reporting for duty! You will not be disappointed!

Three weeks! Did you get your tickets yet? We have officially worked through the entire show. Everything is on schedule as this gives us two weeks to polish the acts which we will work on separately. Then the final week is putting them all together and running it as a show. In the mean time we have some appearances to look forward to. Certainly a new experience for me and for Cary Players. Kids and parents alike will get a chance to see us at local retailers, libraries, and at a beautiful day at Koka Booth Ampitheatre. You can read the details of these visits on the main page for our show. It'll be great to have a real audience for a select few of our songs to see how they play live. Most shows such as ours will have a "preview" night where we will invite a select small group of people, often times volunteers and other friends that might not get to see the show otherwise, so that we can work in front of a real audience. As much as we all enjoy watching our own performances and directors and stage managers do their best to laugh at our comedy or cry with us every time we perform; a fresh, new introduction to the material for a new audience really makes the experience of performing and reacting to the crowds come alive. So now we'll have some additional chances! Come out and meet us in person, and get a taste for our show! We'd love to have you.Snoopy

Rehearsals continue on, steamrolling through the show one scene and song at a time. We recently got measured for our "costumes". I'm not sure why we bother when I'm just going as is and Charlie Brown will probably pick the same shirt he always has on for the show, but we've got a talented costumer involved in the show and to make her feel better we allowed her to "measure" us for costumes. Maybe she'll let me wear one of my Flash Beagle suits, I could use a new one. I also saw a bunch of Peanuts fans out at the Lazy Days festival in Cary! Thank you everyone that stopped by the Cary Player's booth and signed up for our newsletter or just hung out and said Hi. That was some crowd out there; I was grateful that the Town of Cary made an exception on their no Dog rule and let me sneak over to our booth. On to my incoming e-mail! A very intriguing e-mail sneaked into my inbox at snoopy@caryplayers.org. A young lady who wants to remain nameless decided to pry and ask me whom of the round headed (Charlie Brown) kid's friends is my favorite? It's tough being a dog. You can read what I'm writing, but Chuck, Lucy, Linus, and the rest of the gang have know knowledge that not only can I actually write and speak when I want to, but more often then not I'm more insightful then any other members of this motley group. Because of this I'm never truly close to any of the Charlie Brown gang. I love them all for their own reasons; Linus' blanket is always fun to borrow, Schroeder let's me dance on his piano, Chuck feeds me of course, Sally drops her ice cream regularly, and Lucy .... ok maybe not Lucy. However, my best friend is and always will be my bird friend Woodstock. I know he's not one of Charlie Brown's friends, but he is my friend. He listens to me, and I listen in return. No matter what I attempt in life he's there to support me and back me up. Although, probably not the answer you wanted Woodstock is my best friend and everyone else is a second to him. I thank you for your interest though!

Our first week of rehearsals is already over! Early on in a production like this we generally focus just on the music. Understanding and being able to deliver the music is important for later blocking ( marking out physical actions performed during the show ). It won't stop here though, we've got another busy week coming up to continue our focus on music. However, even more interesting is a question that were sent to me at snoopy@caryplayers.org. As promised here is my doggily truthful response! Little Tiffany wanted me to explain in a more detail what our show is like. It is very simple. Being a big fan of Peanuts, as I know you are, you should have already experienced our Comic Strips in the newspaper or on the web. Daily, in the newspaper, myself and the rest of the Peanuts' gang perform in a very short little skit on some kind of topic, such as me trying to steal a blanket, or Chuck missing the football ... AGAIN! ... This show takes this experience and just puts it in a live environment. We perform songs and comedic scenes in almost comic strip fashion with short, but memorable, moments fashioned from everyday happenings in our lives. With wonderful music and hilarious moments you will not be bored a moment, I promise, as we keep the action fresh and interesting throughout your visit in person to our world. So Tiffany, I certainly hope to see you out there in the audience enjoying our show. Finally, you don't need to bring me any treats for the show, I'll be a hard working performer for you no matter what ... but just in case, I don't go for dog biscuits .. I'm more of a pizza and cookie kinda beagle.

Here we go! We started rehearsing on Monday which included a celebration of Pizza, Peppermint Patties, and Cookies of course. There's no better way to get ready then to start with a full stomach. First order of business is to get this music into shape though! So after greeting each other we sit down to work. You would think performing as yourself in a musical would be easy, but in fact it takes a lot of focus and energy. Writers don't necessarily capture your "essence" in their scripts so not only do you need to perform their fantastic musical routines, but you must find what makes you, "you", as well. Led by our terriffic musical director Craig Johnson we've already pushed through the whole show in voice and song. As a side note, yes kids you can try this at home, eat some cake and have a big glass of milk then run around the house singing beautiful music. This is basically what we've been doing these first couple days, and if we can produce music that Woodstock would be proud of with icing from a cookie or cake still on our nose, we will certainly be ready when YOU come and see the performance.Snoopy

Tickets are on sale!! I'm so excited to know that people will begin planning to come see me and my family perform favorite moments in our lives on stage. Go HERE to find out more about tickets.I got my first e-mail too, and as stated I plan to try to answer them so here is the message: "Why does my niece's beagle chew my sister's furniture?". First off, let your sister know she has great taste in keeping a fellow beagle in the family, we are a refined and intelligent group of animals that are easily loved, especially when well fed. Now about your furniture... Chewing is a common activity for younger dogs, we generally grow out of this phase at some point in our lives, but early on there is a lot of chewing. This is often times caused by new teeth coming in, just like humans, and without parents to give us cold teething rings to chew on we find the closest items to take our frustrations out on. With some caring and some new toys your sister can help keep a friendly beagle away from the furniture. Though there is an alternative explanation, make sure the family eats at a dinner table because .... crumbs are delicious ... rather they are cookie crumbs, pizza crumbs, or anything! And who can blame a dog for chewing on furniture to get a little bit of the treasure hidden in the cushions! Thanks for writing and I look forward to hearing from more of you! Did I tell you that tickets are now on sale?!

Just a brief update for my favorite fans! Offering a new feature for you from yours truly. E-mail, yes that is right, e-mail me at snoopy@caryplayers.org and ask me questions about my family, the world, or anything that is on your mind. I will then happily select questions to answer and post them on this blog for everyone's knowledge and enjoyment. I look forward to hearing from you! Now back to my breakfast .....Snoopy

Things are pretty quiet. Charlie is watching a lot of baseball, maybe he feels better when he doesn't have a direct impact on his team winning. Sally is already mourning the end of summer. Linus got his blanket patched recently; I think I might of torn it during my last attempt to borrow it. Lucy is, well, Lucy. As for myself? Summer is a great time for life and I've been spending a lot of time at the bird bath with Woodstock and some friends. The Days are slipping through our paws though and soon we'll be sharing root beers together as we start working on this show for everyone. I can't wait to share more details with you. Until then, keep enjoying your summer weather, but be safe out there as even furred animals can get burnt by the sun. PS - The image below is from my first appearance in the Peanuts' comic strips.Snoopy

Dear fans,It was a dark and stormy night ....
No wait, that isn't the purpose of this blog. I've been working so hard on that stupid story I forgot why I was here. I've been asked by the lovely and talented producers to blogify, (is that a word?), my experiences in this upcoming production. One month away from the start of rehearsals and then away we go. I don't expect to have too difficult of a time getting ready for this performance since I AM Snoopy after all, but working with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Sally, Linus, and that guy that always plays the piano is never easy. More to come here soon, but I must focus on my book for now as my editor expects the first draft prior to my theatrical showing in Cary, North Carolina. Until then, have a Root Beer for me.
Sincerely Yours,
Snoopy
